in England reveals preliminary findings about the imminent danger of the omicron wave that everyone fears
.
According to the study, some of which were published in the Financial Times, there is no indication that this strain is less powerful than the Delta strain, although at present the hospitalizations in the world are significantly lower than the Delta wave (partly due to a much larger immunized population compared to the Delta wave).
"The study did not find any evidence that Omicron has a lower degree of severity than Delta, both in terms of the rate of positive and symptomatic with Omicron, and in terms of the percentage of patients who have to be hospitalized after variants," said the researchers, led by Prof. Neil Ferguson. And Adviser to the Government of the United Kingdom.

However, despite the grave concern arising from the study, "there is still very limited information regarding hospitalizations as a result of Omicron," and so far the information as received from the hospital indicates "limited changes, at most, in severity compared to Delta."
The researchers added that it would still "take a few weeks" to assess the severity of the strain, but the findings show how important it is to get booster doses of vaccines and prepare ahead of time.
