A spider of unknown origin triggered a police operation this Saturday in a supermarket in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg - and various other emergency services.
When an employee opened a banana box, the animal jumped out, said a police spokesman.
The spider hid in the shop.
Concern that it could be poisonous caused various units to react.
Finally, police officers, firefighters, a spider expert, an exterminator and an employee of the animal rescue service went on the hunt for the eight-legged creature between the shelves.
The supermarket was closed for an hour and a half, then the hunters caught the animal.
According to the police, it was not a poisonous specimen, but a harmless crab spider.
She can now recover from a shopping trip in a spider lover's terrarium.
