In the case of an act of violence in Glinde in Schleswig-Holstein, the autopsy of the three bodies identified the father of the family as the perpetrator.
He is one of the dead.
His two 11 and 13-year-old sons were each shot dead, as a spokesman for the Lübeck public prosecutor said.
The forensic medical examinations also showed that the father "apparently" shot himself.
On the late evening of Boxing Day, the bodies of the two children were found after being shot in the house.
The children's father died in the house despite attempts at resuscitation.
The mother was taken to hospital, seriously injured.
Forensics still in use
The evaluation of the emergency call also showed that the 44-year-old was "who was responsible for the shooting," the investigators said.
According to the information, the wife dropped the emergency call.
She is still in an artificial coma with multiple gunshot wounds.
The emergency call did not give any indication of a motive.
The crime scene has not yet been released for further investigations in this matter by the forensics department.
After working for 15 hours on Monday, the criminal police technicians resumed their work on Tuesday.
They're looking for more clues in the house and they're going to secure them.
