It must have been an exhausting year for virologist Christian Drosten.
The scientist repeatedly pointed out the dangers of the changing coronavirus and recommended vaccinations - but politics did not always act accordingly.
Drosten - like many other scientists - was even massively attacked by vaccination opponents and corona deniers.
Shortly before the end of the year, the Charité virologist apparently felt a certain tiredness when dealing with vaccination refusals.
At least shortly before the end of the year, Drosten refrained from sharing technical knowledge with his more than 900,000 followers on Twitter.
"Anyone who believes that they can train their immune system through an infection must consequently also believe that they can train their digestion through a steak," wrote Drosten.
But Drosten wanted to make one serious point.
A little later he also added on Twitter: "Immune response vs. 'strong immune system' is like learning vs. intelligence".
You can learn a poem by heart, but it doesn't make you more intelligent.
Neither do you strengthen your immune system with an infection.
