Gloria Piedimonte, the unforgettable "Guapa" of the program "Discoring", died around midnight in the hospital of Mantua.
The actress, singer and showgirl was 66 years old and was hospitalized for complications related to Covid.
The news was given by his son Giovanni Piedimonte.
"She disappeared last night, she fought to the end. She left without pain and with great dignity", he says.
Born in Mantua on May 27, 1955, Piedimonte arrived very young in Rome to work in the cinema.
She was noticed by Gianni Boncompagni, who used her image in the 1978 theme song of Discoring, in which she moved to the rhythms of the piece "Baila Guapa" by Bus Connection, played by Boncompagni himself who encouraged her throughout the song.
At that time, the artist also acted in the theater alongside Erminio Macario and Sylva Koscina.
In the same year he recorded two singles for Durium: "Ping pong space" of the disco genre and "Uno" written by Andrea Lo Vecchio, which also achieved good success abroad.
In 1979 his first film as a protagonist was released, "Baila Guapa".
After other extras in films and photo novels, Piedimonte in 1983 came out with another single "Ma che bella sera", also released with great success in Germany.
His latest television appearances include the one in "The best years" (2009) on Rai 1 hosted by Carlo Conti and in "Una Poltrona per due".
In recent years the artist turned to art, creating various canvases, which have also been the subject of exhibitions.
