The Koblenz district court has sentenced a former daycare worker to five years in prison for serious sexual abuse of children.

The news agency AFP and SWR report this in unison.

The educator has been convicted of 14 counts of child sexual abuse and two counts of serious abuse, a court spokeswoman told AFP.

In addition, the 33-year-old was convicted of abusing wards.

The reasons for the verdict took place behind closed doors.

The man was accused of abusing five daycare children in 16 cases between the beginning of 2020 and July 2021.

The children were between three and six years old at the time.

The investigation began in July 2021 because the father of a victim reported the man.

The daycare provider then released the educator.
