The two hitchhikers probably didn't expect that.
When they ask for a lift on a street, a car with a prominent driver stops: It is the Swiss Minister for the Environment and Communications, Simonetta Sommaruga.
She decides to take the two women with her in her private car.

Sommaruga has now published a handwritten letter of thanks from the two hitchhikers on Instagram.
It says: "What a peaceful country we have, where a federal councilor takes hitchhikers with her."
Sommaruga wrote that she stopped on the icy road to pick up the women.
One of them was almost 90 years old.
The writing of the two touched her.
A spokeswoman for the ministry confirmed the case.
The unexpected encounter took place last weekend in the canton of Bern.
