Three shoplifters specializing in high-calorie stolen goods tried several times on the same day in Neustrelitz to steal sweets worth several hundred euros. The gang was not young.

A gang of thieves specializing in “chocolate shoplifting” struck a supermarket in Neustrelitz in Brandenburg twice in one day.

On Friday afternoon, two women and a man were first observed, the police said.

An employee was able to stop the man in the checkout area.

The police found chocolate worth more than 250 euros from the 57-year-old.

The two women, however, were able to escape – until a few hours later they appeared again in the supermarket and tried to steal chocolate.

Police officers and a shop detective finally caught the 44 and 30-year-old shoplifters.

After the police filed a complaint and released the “chocolate shoplifters”, a foot patrol followed them to their vehicle.

Another 34-year-old suspect was found there, as well as chocolate and baby food worth more than 700 euros.

A day earlier, the gang tried to steal sweets from a supermarket in Prenzlau, a police spokeswoman said.

All four suspects are under investigation.
