On the way to change?
MK Limor Magen Telem's upgraded Photoshop law was passed today (Sunday) by the Ministerial Committee on Legislative Affairs.
The new bill is more stringent than the existing Photoshop law, and provides for sanctions in the law against the publication of shredded images without a clear statement.
According to the proposal, advertisers, broadcasters and newspapers that publish an image that has been edited to reduce the scope, without a clear statement to that effect in the body of the ad, will be fined tens to hundreds of thousands of shekels.
MK Magen Telem said that "beneath the surface has grown the silent epidemic of eating disorders in Israel.
"The bill that I have been fighting for since my first days in the Knesset is the first step in dealing with the difficult phenomenon of a negative and distorted body image among teenagers."
According to the data during the corona period, a 100% increase in requests for psychiatric treatment and a 40% increase in requests for treatment for eating disorders were observed.
On Wednesday, the law is expected to come up in a preliminary reading.
