The science fiction movie "The Countdown" is such a ridiculously ridiculous and shameless blockbuster that thrash lovers will enjoy every moment

Roland Emrich, best known for huge-scale disaster movies (like "The Third Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow"), returned to destroy the world once again in "Countdown" - an extremely silly blockbuster that would bring quite a bit of fun to trash lovers.

The budget may not be as big as it used to be, but in many ways it's Emrich's "Best Hits" album, and if you're been following his career, you can identify here a plethora of elements from his previous films.

Much of the fun that comes with watching comes from trying to identify the additional sources of "inspiration" used by Emrich and his co-creators (a long list that includes every possible, more or less possible DDA film, starting with "2001" and "Gravity", ending with " Armageddon "and" Transformers ").

The story is simple: for no apparent reason, the moon deviates from its orbit and begins to fall towards the earth.

The crash will bring the world to an end unless someone manages to fly into space and prevent it from happening.

Those chosen to embark on the aforementioned hopeless mission are a past astronaut (Patrick Wilson), who was shamefully fired many years earlier following a fatal accident in which he was involved, NASA director (Halle Berry), who was his partner at the time, and a fan of conspiracy theories ( John Bradley, "Game of Thrones"), who somehow managed to predict everything that is happening now.

At the same time, the family members of our heroes, who remain on Earth, are trying to escape the incessant natural disasters caused by the deviation of the moon from its orbit.

You can be sure it will not be easy.

"Countdown" is a ridiculous and dumb movie, aware of its ridiculousness and stupidity.

The dialogues are hilarious, the game is awful, and oddly enough, even the computerized effects look significantly less good than those that adorned Emrich's previous films.

The marketing content is pushed to the face in blatant ways (literally), the script praises Elon Musk at every opportunity (why actually?), And there is an unnecessary and unrelated Chinese character, pushed into the film just so producers can get a budget from investors from the Far East.

In other words, "Countdown" is such an idiotic, bad and shameless movie that at some point it becomes quite wonderful.

I enjoyed every second.
