The Super Bowl is the highlight of the football season and is now also a big thing in Germany.

However, not everyone seems to like the licensed Aldi items.

It doesn't matter whether it's Star Wars, the World Cup or the Olympic Games - for every major event there are always a lot of articles that adapt to the right theme in terms of color or content.

Another sporting mega-event has been on everyone's lips throughout Germany for a few years - the Super Bowl.

This is the end of the season for the American football professional league National Football League (NFL).

Here the two best teams fight for the championship title.

While sport and the Super Bowl are the biggest events of its kind in the US, it's only really gotten big in Germany in the past few years - thanks to ProSieben and DAZN.

Aldi: Discounter offers NFL merch for the Super Bowl

The 56th Super Bowl will take place on February 13, 2022 from 3:30 p.m. – which, thanks to the time difference, means February 14 at 12:30 a.m. for German fans.

In the finals, the Cincinnati Bengals will battle the Los Angeles Rams for the title.

Of course, numerous fans in Germany will tune in again, although the event takes place during the week.

So it's no wonder that Aldi* is also getting into the Super Bowl business and will be offering licensed NFL products from Monday (February 7).

As HEIDELBERG24* reports, not everyone seems to like them.

Everything that makes a football fan's heart beat faster is offered in the brochure and online. These are football-shaped bowls or shot glasses and mugs with the official logo. There are also clothes and even a popcorn machine or a chocolate fountain. However, the goods on offer cause displeasure among some fans. "I have to throw up, more plastic junk for nothing just to make money from an event to make someone feel like a fan. Whoever bought the garbage didn't hear the shot," says one customer, letting his frustration run free. Others are also skeptical as to whether the clothing is really official NFL merch, or whether Aldi just put the logo on their own clothes. A customer of the discounter recently complained about "consumer deception".*

Aldi: Customers complain about unhealthy food for the Super Bowl

But American food is also advertised in the brochure so that you can enjoy hot dogs, pizza or spare ribs with the game.

However, some Aldi customers do not really seem to like the offer.

"When the discounters advertise the #SuperBowl in their advertising leaflets and the food to go with it is just shit for the body.

Yummy, yummy, yum, yum, yum.

Wonderful,” writes a Twitter user, for example.

Other customers are also irritated by the headline of the prospectus: "Because the Super Bowl is more than sport!" The discounter does not say exactly what this "more" is.

Of course, there are also enough people who really buy Aldi's NFL merch and even celebrate it.

"Nice offers!

Struck directly...", "I will strike !!!!

Or as they say in English: I would punch you" or "Ah, I have to have it!

Especially the bowls!” are just a few of the positive comments on Twitter.
