(ANSA) - MOSCOW, 08 FEB - The first hearing of the case that sees the Russian opponent in prison Alexei Navalny accused of fraud and outrage to the court has been set for 10 am on 15 February: the Interfax agency reports, specifying that the news was communicated to her by the Lefortovsky court in Moscow.

According to Tass, which quotes Navalny's lawyer, Olga Mikhailova, the hearings will not take place in the Moscow court but in the detention center in the Vladimir region where Navalny is now located.

Navalny, considered Putin's main political rival, risks more than ten years of imprisonment with the new accusations - which he rejects and defines as politically motivated.

The opponent is in jail for a sentence of two and a half years that many observers believe politically motivated.

He was arrested in January of last year, as soon as he returned to Russia from Germany, where he had been treated for poisoning with a deadly neurotoxin that had been fearful for his life and for which the West suspects Russian secret services.

The regional offices and the Navalny Anti-Corruption Foundation have been declared "extremists" by the Russian authorities in a move considered by many to be of a political nature.

Lawyer Olga Mikhailova told Interfax that the fact that the hearing will take place in the detention center will seriously complicate Navalny's right to be defended.

"The colony - said the lawyer - is a fully operational structure, access to the territory with mobile phones, computers and other equipment is strictly forbidden. Taking this into account, I do not understand how our hearings will go on and how we and the witnesses will succeed. to attend you ".
