In Italy, the dispute over a blood transfusion is causing a stir.
A court has stripped the parents of a child of custody because they would only agree to a transfusion if the clinic in Bologna assured them that only blood from unvaccinated people would be used.
The two-year-old had to have heart surgery, but the parents did not want to consent to the operation without the assurance.
The child now has a guardian, the Ansa news agency reported on Thursday, for which the responsible social service had been deployed.
The intervention could thus be initiated in the coming days or weeks.
Already on Tuesday, a court in Modena ruled in favor of the clinic, confirming the need for the boy's surgery and the safety of the clinic's blood.
According to her lawyer, the parents justified their decision with religious motives.
The dispute has been going on since early February.
According to media reports, the parents initially presented the clinic with a list of around 40 voluntary blood donors who were not vaccinated against Covid-19.
