According to ADAC, the corresponding DIN standard with the number 13164, which prescribes what belongs in the set, should be adapted.
First aid kit in the car: Two masks will be mandatory in 2022
In the future, the first aid kit must also contain two mouth and nose covers.
It is not yet known which type of mask will be prescribed in the change to the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) planned for this year.
But it doesn't matter whether it's a medical mask or the FFP2 standard: In the Corona crisis, it should be easy to divert two masks from everyday stock for the first aid kit.
The first-aid kit in the car should be checked regularly - for completeness, but also to ensure that the expiry dates have not yet expired.

It is not yet clear when the new regulation will come and when the two masks will have to be carried.
However, this obligation does not end with the corona pandemic.
Anyone upgrading their first aid kit should take the opportunity to take a look at the expiry date.
It is usually four or five years.
No or inadequate first aid kit: imminent fine
In many areas, the new catalog of fines that has been in force since November 2021 has brought tougher sanctions.
If you can't show a first aid kit or only an expired or incomplete first aid kit at a police check, you still get off quite cheaply.
The fine is only 5 euros.
