Contribute to the cultural and social formation of children, leaving no one behind.

This is one of the objectives to which the educational institution must aim which, however, in recent years, has had to deal with the limits imposed by the pandemic.

The advent of distance learning has forced students to take on new learning dimensions which, in the city of Potenza, have been supported by a digital infrastructure capable of guaranteeing stable connections that have stemmed potential inequalities.

Among these are the students of the "Galileo Galilei" scientific high school, one of the 40 schools in the Lucanian capital that have been reached by the latest generation fiber optic network of Open Fiber.

A'

infrastructural work that in the city of Potenza alone led to the installation of over 18,000 kilometers of optical fiber, a network that - with a private investment of approximately seven and a half million euros - has also reached 22,000 real estate units.

Therefore Potenza has become a digital city, more connected which has allowed the Galilei students "not to stop, also thanks to the implementation of connectivity", as explained by the head teacher of the institute, Lucia Girolamo.

A new horizon, that of digital connections, which has also allowed for better management of work as underlined by Maria Cristina Muro, head of the "Maca planner" micro-playroom.

"In our facility - she pointed out - we were able to improve daily activities thanks to the support of the fiber.

compared to the total 66 thousand envisaged in the public project launched by Infratel (an in-house company of the Mise) and coordinated by the Basilicata Region.

At the moment, 75 municipalities have been completed by the Open Fiber dealer.

In perspective, thanks to the funds coming from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the "Italy a 1 gig" plan, the goal will be to cover another 160 thousand real estate units with optical fiber for a capillary and total mapping of Basilicata.
