An accident occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday evening in the small town of Künzelsau in Baden-Württemberg.

According to the police, a young woman came off the road with her vehicle in a curve on the state road 1045.

She struck a tree and then crashed into a knee-high bridge wall that had already been damaged in a previous accident.

The 26-year-old crashed her car over the bridge eight meters deep into the Kocher, a tributary of the Neckar.

The car came to a stop on its wheels in the almost three foot deep water.

The woman was able to get out of her vehicle and climbed onto the roof of the car.

"Curve misjudged"

Firefighters rescued the injured from the roof and rescued their car from the river.

The woman probably misjudged the course of the curve, said the police spokesman.

The damage caused to the vehicle was estimated at around 15,000 euros, the damage to the bridge has not yet been quantified.

The L 1045 was completely blocked for several hours while the accident was being recorded.
