Because in certain cases cashiers can refuse the payment.

As the consumer portal Baden-Württemberg informs, one rule of thumb applies above all: "Larger amounts should not only be paid for with small change at the supermarket checkout." Basically, no more than 50 coins should wander over the counter - otherwise the cashier can refuse the cash payment.
After all, counting the small change can take some time.
The following applies to shoppers: It is better to pay with the card once more than to make yourself unpopular with the cashier.
Cash payments at Rewe, Kaufland and Co.: coin-operated machines in supermarkets
If you carry large amounts of coins with you, you can still get rid of them at the supermarket.
