The mother teaches the puppy to breathe: watch the special dolphins that came to Eilat

Under the supervision of coral reserve inspectors, a flock of dolphins identified as a species of finite sea dolphin was seen.

The band was documented using a skimmer in front of the Princess Beach in Eilat.

Between the five dolphins you can see an adult mother accompanying a young individual and helping him get up to breathe

Guests in the Red Sea in the Gulf of Eilat:

A flock of five dolphins, identified as a species of final sea dolphin, visited the waters of the southern resort town this morning (Sunday), and were documented using a glider in front of the Princess Beach in Eilat.

According to Daphne Pingold, a marine biologist and coordinator of marine mammal observations in the Red Sea, in the Red Sea there are 16 species of marine mammals (whales).

13 are species of toothed whales and among them are also species of dolphins.

The final sea dolphin Indo pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) is a subspecies of the common dolphin (bottlenose dolphin) and it is sometimes difficult to notice differences between them without very close observation.

"There are differences in head shape and color, but the most obvious difference is that adult individuals develop spots in the abdomen," she says.

Pingold further adds that the general habitat of the Sufi Dolphin Sea is in tropical to warm-temperate regions of the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific, from South Africa to the Gulf of Eden and the Red Sea.

This species has been observed mainly near the coast and it is probably its preferred living area, in relatively shallow water.

Its preference for shallow water is not so clear in the Gulf of Eilat / Aqaba, because it is a body of water whose deep water is close to shore.

The structure of the Red Sea is such that the deep water is very close to the shore so in this area this species can also be seen in the deep water.

Reports of Sufi Sea Dolphin herds are reported throughout the Red Sea, Gulf of Eilat / Aqaba and Suez.

Bands were also observed in the Suez Canal area itself.

The average size of bands of this species usually ranges from 2 to 2 individuals, but there are reports of bands up to 300 individuals.

The presence of puppies of this species is observed throughout the year, and in general, the invention of puppies indicates the presence of food and the health of the area.

Chen Topikian, director of the Coral Reserve at the Nature and Parks Authority, said: "These are exactly the moments in our work that fill the heart. It is very important if you encounter dolphins, to enjoy the sighting but not touch or get close."
