Boston - If you live in a house, do you really know all the rooms in your home?
Most would probably answer "yes".
But one woman was amazed.
She swapped out her old carpet and found a hidden basement hatch underneath.
This story has electrified many internet users for years.
A user named madhats86 or Madhats19 posted seven images of his girlfriend's intriguing discovery on Imgur and Reddit in April 2016.
See the photos above.
A hatch appeared under the woman's rug.
The woman couldn't believe her eyes: her house has a room she didn't even know about!
An old wooden staircase led down.
One can imagine the shiver that must have run down the resident's spine as she climbed down.
There were plenty of glasses neatly lined up, some empty, some filled with preserved food.
And of course all covered with a thick layer of dust.
According to the user, the house is somewhere in Massachusetts/USA.
The discovery from 2016 may not be spectacular, but it has obviously been fascinated by Internet users for years: the photo gallery on Imgur alone has already been viewed more than half a million times.
There's also a lot going on on Reddit.
"I bet if you rub every bottle, maybe a genie will come out, or a demon will get you," writes one user.
Many others wonder if the preserves are still edible.
And one asks desperately: "Why is all the rum gone?"
Even a home kitchen can hide a discovery.
