She raced against time in Afghanistan to save a 9-year-old boy who fell two days ago into a well in a remote village in the country.

A case that recalls that of little Rayan, the 5-year-old Moroccan boy who was trapped in a well and died after 4 days.

The operation to save the Afghan child took place in the village of Shokak, in the province of Zabul.

Videos posted by citizens on social media - including officials from the new Taliban government - show a child identified by the name of Haidar stuck in the well, able to move his arms and upper body.

"Are you okay my son? Talk to me and don't cry, we are working to get you out", the father says to the baby in the video.

"Okay, I'll keep talking," Haidar replies.

The video was shot by rescuers who lowered a camera with a rope into the narrow shaft.

Local officials said the boy was trapped ten meters from the 25-meter deep well.

"There is a team with an ambulance, oxygen and other necessary equipment," tweeted Abdullah Azzam, secretary of Deputy Prime Minister Abdulghani Barada.

Rescuers are digging from an open angled ditch on the surface to try to reach where the child is trapped.

A technique similar to the one that rescuers attempted in Morocco at the beginning of February to save little Rayan.
