(ANSA) - MILAN, FEBRUARY 17 - The consumer technology sector records record increases in Italy.

According to the latest findings of the analysis agency GfK, sales grew by + 9.2% in 2021, with the total market value reaching 17.5 billion euros.

Compared to the pre-pandemic year, 2019, the gap is even more significant, equal to + 18.5%, demonstrating how lockdowns and the need to stay at home have prompted the purchase of many technological devices whose renewal has been anticipated .

At the top of the segments that have sold the most are consumer electronics (+ 35.9%), which includes audio and video devices such as televisions, and large household appliances (9.7%).

In third place there is telephony (6.6%) while information technology and office, between PC and software, represents the only sector in decline (-0.8%) although it should be remembered that last year had registered sales record.

Excellent performance also in the most marginal sectors such as home comfort (+ 15.3%) and photo (+ 14.6%) which, however, do not return to the turnover of 2019. The importance of sales made in the last quarter of year, from October to December 2021, which generate almost 33% of the total over twelve months.

According to Gfk, due to difficulties in finding raw materials, starting from semiconductors,

has slowed down growth that could have been even more sustained but, together with the increase in logistics costs, has generated an increase in prices in all sectors.
