Researchers have found that people who recover from corona are at increased risk, relative to the rest of the population, of developing mental difficulties, sleep problems or needing medication • The reason is due to a slight damage to the brain due to a decrease in blood flow to it

A new study has found that people who have recovered from coronary heart disease are at increased risk relative to the rest of the population to develop difficulties such as depression, sleep problems and drug use.

It has also been shown that recovering patients can also develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal thoughts and panic attacks.

The study was conducted by researchers at St. Louis University in the United States on 150,000 former U.S. Army fighters who had the disease and were over the age of 60 compared to 5.6 million other former non-sick fighters. Accustomed to depression or sleep problems, these people are 20 percent more likely to use addictive substances.

According to the researchers, the reason for the differences is probably due to a slight damage to the brain due to a decrease in blood flow to it and damage to neurons during the course of the disease.

Beyond that, the fact that the patients in Corona were isolated, and had to deal with the disease alone, was also taken as a factor that intensified their mental injury.

The bottom line is that the study found that those infected with corona over the age of 60 are 60 percent more likely than others to suffer from mental difficulty or need medication, for about a year from the date of recovery.

Among those hospitalized, the risk of mental coping jumped 243 percent.

The study, published in the British Medical Journal, confirms previous studies, including a study by Oxford University, which found that a third of corona recoverers experienced symptoms of depression and anxiety about six months after recovery.

A study by the University of Milan found that more than half of severe patients developed symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
