Do you know how to read the TÜV sticker correctly?
It contains important information that can save you fines and points.
Berlin - The round colored sticker on the rear license plate on the car is not only important for the employees in the workshop.
Drivers should also know how to read it correctly - otherwise it can quickly become expensive.
Be careful: there is a risk of fines and points!
Many drivers should now check their TÜV sticker
Always after a main inspection, which takes place every two years (exception: for a new car after 36 months), a car gets a new inspection sticker if it is roadworthy and meets all requirements.
The ADAC explains what the badge is all about.
The two numbers in the middle stand for the year in which the next general inspection is to take place.
So 22 stands for the year 2022. At the top center, where the 12 would be on a watch face, a one or two-digit number indicates the month in which the next examination is due.
So a 9 would mean “September”.
An appointment should be made at a test center for this month.
TÜV sticker: This is what the black bar and the color mean
Because the digits are not so easy to read from a distance, the badge also has a black bar at 12. The ADAC explains what it means on its website.
The bar is always glued to the place where the number of the month in which the examination is due would be on a watch face.
So if the bar is in the middle left, where the 9 would be on the clock face, it stands for the month “September”.
During a check, the police can see from afar whether the vehicle still has a valid sticker.
Don't forget the color of the sticker.
It shows at a glance in which year the vehicle has to be inspected.
According to ADAC, the sticker for 2022 is red and that for 2023 is pink.
A total of six colors alternate each year in the same order.
If you still have a yellow sticker, you should act quickly.
The main inspection would have been due in 2021.
Main inspection covered?
This could get expensive
If you don't bring your car to the main inspection in time, you are breaking the road traffic regulations.
This can result in fines.
If the deadline for the main inspection is exceeded by two to four months, it costs 15 euros, according to the ADAC.
25 euros for four to eight months, and 60 euros for more than eight months and an additional point in the central traffic register in Flensburg.
It can be dangerous on the streets at the moment.
So you can still drive safely in a storm.
