Mark, not Euro - the name alone is nostalgic when the show classic returns to the RTL program. It's not the only comeback that the station boss has announced. The »supertalent« is taking a break for this.

The retro trend on German television continues: RTL has announced a "resurrection" of the "100,000 Mark Show" with presenter Ulla Kock am Brink, 60.

RTL managing director Henning Tewes revealed the plans in an interview with the industry service "DWDL" on Wednesday.

"With the resurrection of the legendary RTL classic 'The 100,000 Mark Show', then as now with cult presenter Ulla Kock am Brink, we are giving RTL even more space for the retro trend," Tewes put it.

When asked, an RTL spokesman explained that the show should operate under its old name – despite the currency conversion to the euro that has now taken place.

The show, which consisted of many action-packed games, was a ratings hit on RTL in the 1990s.

In the finale, a safe had to be opened in order to get the main prize of 100,000 marks – at that time an immense prize money for a game show.

Ulla Kock am Brink moderated most of the episodes, and moderator Franklin – actually Frank Schmidt – took over the show in 1998.

In 2000 it was temporarily discontinued.

Recently, several show classics have been revived on German television - including »Go to the Whole« (Sat.1), »TV total« (ProSieben) and »7 Days, 7 Heads« (RTL).

The RTL game show "The price is hot" with moderator Harry Wijnvoord should also come back.

This was also confirmed by RTL Managing Director Tewes at "DWDL".

»Supertalent« suspends a season

To this end, the Cologne-based private broadcaster is putting a recent successful format on “creative break”: the RTL Saturday evening show “Das Supertalent” is suspending a season for the first time since it started in 2007.

Henning Tewes said in the industry service interview: "This gives us the time to look for the right answers to the crucial questions.

At the same time, it gives us the chance to broaden our horizons and rethink Saturday evening.

We have quite a few events and big family shows on the table that are really promising.”

RTL separated from Dieter Bohlen in 2021, who had been on the jury since the format began.

Footballer Lukas Podolski was originally supposed to move up in the 15th season, but he dropped out in many of the “Supertalent” editions because of Corona.

Instead, among others, Michael Michalsky and the Ehrlich Brothers were there.

The number of viewers halved during this time to an average of almost 1.5 million.

In previous years, the rate had always fallen slightly.

The separation of Bohlen in "Supertalent" and in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" was correct, said Tewes.

At "DSDS" one is now "very happy with the new jury around Florian Silbereisen and with the quality of the cast": Recently, talents had applied again that "DSDS" had not attracted in previous years.
