Lionel Guedj, 41, and his father Carnot Guedj, 70, begin their trial this Monday in Marseille against 322 victims who have filed civil suits.

These victims suffered multiple dental mutilations, some of which were irreversible.

The reason ?

"The first consultation systematically ended in a massive program of work involving devitalizing and crowning as many teeth as possible", according to a report establishing that Lionel Guedj invoiced 28 times more crowns than the average of his colleagues.

He could see up to 70 patients a day, giving them an average of 15 minutes.

Fifty-seven hours a day would have been necessary for such acts.

The Guedj cabinet had half of its patients at the CMU and 99% at third-party payment.

Lionel Guedj promised them “a star smile”.

With such a rhythm, Lionel Guedj became in 2010 the highest paid dentist in France: he granted himself a salary between €65,000 and €80,000 per month, drove a Ferrari and had accumulated a heritage of 13 million euros.

Lionel and Carnot Guedj incur 10 years' imprisonment and a fine of 2 million euros for "intentional violence resulting in mutilation or permanent disability" and "fraud".
