(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 07 - The European Commission is "evaluating" a strategy to be completely independent from Russian gas by seeking alternative suppliers.
This was stated by the EU vice-president, Valdis Dombrovskis, in a hearing at the Economic Commission of the European Parliament.
"It is clear that we will not be replacing" Russian gas "entirely with renewables in a year or two, so if we want to proceed quickly to 'zero import' from Russia, we have to import the gas from another party," Dombrovskis stressed, reporting that from part of the largest Norwegian gas company there is "100% availability to fill the gaps".
