Residents of Kherson, southeast Ukraine, demonstrated against the Russian occupation last Saturday.
Several hundred people from this city of about 280,000 people took to the streets waving a Ukrainian flag as the Russian army seized the city last Thursday.

Kherson is strategically located at the mouth of the Dnieper River which empties into the Black Sea.
Kherson was the first major urban center to fall to Russian troops since the invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
Other Ukrainian cities also occupied by the Russian army have also been the scene of demonstrations in recent days, such as Berdiansk and Melitopol.
