In less than a week, the British pop-star has been sued twice: the first by the reggae group Artikal Sound System and the second by the two songwriters Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer.
They accuse her of being heavily inspired by their work for her title

It all started on March 2, with the Artikal Sound System group's first complaint to the federal court in Los Angeles.
According to its members, the British pop-star would have modeled the melody of their track
Live Your Life
, released in 2017, in order to write and compose his song
Levitating
.
Although the complaint contains few details, it mentions the similarity of the two pieces.
"It is highly unlikely that
Levitating
was created independently
," said the plaintiffs of the group, founded in Florida in 2012.

Two days later, on March 4, two separate composers also sued her, claiming that the singer had copied their songs
Wiggle And Giggle All Night
and
Don Diablo
, released in 1979 and 1980 respectively. Lawyers for the two plaintiffs argued , in Manhattan federal court, that the
“signature melody”
at the beginning of Dua Lipa’s title is taken from their songs.

The complaint also states, according to the
Billboard
site , that it is the chorus that is the problem, since this part of the music
"is the most listened to and the most recognizable
".
A fact that the plaintiffs deplore since it is what contributed to the popularity of the piece of Dua Lipa.
In their accusation, they recall that this is a fairly common process on streaming platforms.
Generally speaking,
“video creators frequently truncate the already brief soundbites on TikTok, with the signature tune often comprising fifty percent or more of these viral videos
,” they said.
And when filing their complaint, the applicants relied on several interviews with the British singer, claiming that she
"admitted that she deliberately mimicked previous eras"
, in order to give her title a
"retro" feel
