The oldest zoo sloth in the world has become a father for the 20th time.
A newborn was discovered at the beginning of January, the Krefeld Zoo announced on Facebook.
The date of birth of the two-toed sloth is not known.
It bears the name Kalle.
The sloth child spends most of its time with its mother.
As a result, the two often sunbathe together outside of the enclosure.
Only at dusk and at night do the animals climb to their feeding grounds.
Kalle has a famous father: Jan, 52, is the oldest zoo sloth ever and has a corresponding entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
The number of offspring is also record-breaking: Jan is the father of 20 young animals.
The sloth comes from the wild.
At first it lived in Hagenbeck's zoo in Hamburg.
In 1986 it moved to the Krefeld Zoo.
As a rule, according to the Frankfurt Zoo, sloths can live up to 40 years in human care.
In the wild, however, the life expectancy of the animals is significantly lower.
