This was on the day of the meeting in Rome between US national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Communist Party diplomacy chief Yang Jiechi.
It is reasonable to think that the Taiwan dossier was dealt with by Sullivan and Yang, given that Beijing considers the island part of its territory, to be reunified even by force if necessary.
