Donate one, three or ten cents to a good cause with every purchase.

It sounds like little, but it is lapping up.

If millions of such small donations flow, a tidy sum is raised.

Hamburg - More than every fifth child in Germany grows up in poverty.

Child poverty can negatively impact health, well-being and educational opportunities.

It puts a psychological strain on many affected young people and children.

Some are ashamed of a condition they are not responsible for.

Others have low self-confidence.

Edeka Handelsgesellschaft Nord mbH and most of the associated Edeka, Marktkauf and Naturkind markets want to help.

That is why the company is now cooperating with the non-profit foundation "Deutschland rundet auf".

Achieving a lot together - customers round up, Edeka bears the costs

In addition to the company, the main actor is the clientele.

If you want to donate, just say two words when paying at the checkout: "Please round up!" The amount paid will then be automatically rounded up to the nearest cent.

With a goods value of 17.42 euros, that is 17.50 euros.

Eight cents that shouldn't hurt anyone.

According to the company, 100% of the money donated goes to the relevant projects.

The companies then finance the work of the foundation through contribution payments.

With the concept "Aufrunden please", around 12 million euros have been raised in the last ten years.

The projects create offers for all age groups.

Families expecting children, babies, toddlers, school children, teenagers and young adults.

Edeka: "Please round up" - what does the foundation support?

"I am very happy about the new partnership with Edeka Nord," says Anke Merz-Betz, Managing Director of the foundation.

"Through our joint commitment, we will be able to support important new projects, for example in the areas of school support, mentoring, digital education, integration and the reintegration of homeless young people.

Projects from which we know that the help reaches the children directly and has an effect.”

The foundation has recently set up an aid fund for refugee children and their families from Ukraine.

With the Hamburg organization "wellcome" you finance emergency aid on arrival in Germany.

These could be everyday objects such as diapers, baby food or children's toys.
