(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 15 - Russian troops have taken the staff and patients of a hospital in Mariupol 'hostage.
This was announced on Facebook by the Ukrainian Media Human Rights Initiative (MHRI), relaunched on Twitter by the Ukrainian journalist Anastasia Magazova, who works for Radio Free Europe and the BBC.
The organization explains that patients have contacted the MHRI, saying that since yesterday morning the regional intensive care hospital in Mariupol has been occupied by Russian troops.
Soldiers would shoot from inside the hospital, preventing anyone from getting out.
Some people who attempted to escape would have been injured.
The news is also reported by the Telegram Ukraine Now channel, which quotes a message sent by one of the doctors of the Mariupol hospital.
"We cannot leave the hospital - says the latter -. There are shootings and bombings. We stay in the hospital basement. No car can approach the hospital and this has been the situation for two days. The surrounding houses are on fire. The Russians forced over 400 people who were nearby to enter the hospital.
