(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 17 - Over 200 Ukrainian children with cancer have been sent abroad to continue their treatment since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
This was announced on Telegramla first lady Olena Zelenska.
"There are those who are facing two wars at the same time in these terrible times. One is the one that destroys their homes and cities. The other is personal, against disease. Imagine: it is twice as difficult. These are the two faces for children. with cancer. But we adults, we can do something. We can evacuate them from one war and help them win another, "Zelenska said.
The children, she explained, first go to Lviv, to the specialized medical center for children in western Ukraine, then, accompanied by relatives and doctors, they go to Poland.
Subsequently, the young patients are assigned to specialized facilities in various European countries with the support of the international cancer community.
