It is no secret that before Vladimir Zlansky became President of Ukraine in 2019 he was a popular actor in his country, and even starred in a satirical political series called "Servant of the People".
Now, in light of Russia's invasion of his country and the great popularity he is gaining on the network, the streaming network "Netflix" is uploading the series in question to its servers.
The streaming giant announced this yesterday (Wednesday), on the day the Ukrainian president addressed the US Congress in a video speech.
In "People's Service" Zalansky played a high school teacher named Vasyl Petrovich Holobordko, who was elected president after a segment in which he criticized the government in our country went viral on the net and made him a familiar figure in his country.
The series ran for three seasons, and in an interesting case of an art that mimics art (though some argue that in the first place it was an orchestrated campaign of the actor to make a transition to political life), directly contributed to the presidential race of who was then recognized as an actor and celebrity.
Zalanski initially denied that he intended to pursue a life of public mission, even when his production company Quarter 95 was registered as a political party in March 2018. Nevertheless, nine months later the former TV star announced his intention to run for his country - a race he won in 2019 by Receiving no less than 73 percent of the vote.
This is after he based his campaign on the character in the series in which he starred, and positioned himself as a political figure who strives against the establishment and works for the people and his mission.
Prior to starring in "Servant of the People" in 2015, Zelsky is considered one of the most popular entertainment stars in his country.
In 2006 he even won the Ukrainian version of the reality show "Dancing with the Stars", and in addition even voiced the voice of the Paddington bear in the two films produced about the beloved fictional bear.
Now, Netflix viewers in the US (and presumably soon in the rest of the world as well) will be able to enjoy the artistic qualities of those who are currently making headlines - due to their role in a conflict between countries that fascinates and worries the international community.
