The Munich art auction house Neumeister will be auctioning off treasures from the House of Württemberg on March 30, 2022.

You can bid on fine glasses, plates, cups and much more from a starting price of 50 euros.

Royal!

To report on an auction where one would like to win a number of lots yourself – that is of course a bit unwise strategically.

The 31 champagne flutes, for example, would go perfectly with the author of these lines' champagne cooler.

Or the pretty service, decorated with strawberries, blossoms and fruits - that's what summer tastes like.

On March 24, 2022, the preview will start at the Neumeister art auction house in Munich for the special auction “Hidden Treasures” on March 30.

"Hidden Treasures" - hidden treasures.

You can take that literally.

Many of the treasures have been hidden from the public for decades.

Packed in 60 wooden boxes.

The large letters burned into the side walls reveal the origin: "HF v.

W." They are the initials of Duke Ferdinand of Württemberg (1925-2020).

And in the chests lies a treasure that the house has now opened after more than 70 years.

The contents of 60 such wooden boxes with burned-in initials of Duke Ferdinand von Württemberg are now being auctioned at Neumeister.

When the boxes were delivered there, it was not clear what was slumbering in them.

Like a hidden treasure.

Countless art and furnishings from the Duke’s estate were delivered to Neumeister in Munich in two truckloads in autumn 2021.

And the boxes too.

What would be in it?

"We had no idea," remembers the manager of the house, Katrin Stoll.

As an auctioneer, you experience quite a few surprises with consignments.

"But this time we really felt like Indiana Jones finding a treasure."

It originally came from the former Württemberg castle in Carlsruhe in Upper Silesia, today's Pokój.

The property was destroyed when the Red Army invaded in 1945, but the people of Württemberg had been able to get their belongings to safety beforehand.

From Carlsruhe Castle, which is shown on the right-hand side, all the pieces that are now being auctioned off were saved from the Red Army in 1945.

The newspaper pages in which all the pieces were carefully wrapped tell of this time.

"We already have inquiries from customers who would like to buy the wooden crates," says Stoll with a laugh.

But no, for the time being they are not up for auction.

Even if they are historically significant, on March 30th the focus should be on the content.

Such noble pieces as the gilded bronze candelabra from 1840 (Lot #1264).

How many women have they probably become matchmakers for over the decades – by making the female cheeks shine even more with their soft candlelight, and the eyes sparkle.

And then the plates, bowls, silver cutlery, carafes, jugs and sugar bowls;

if you want to dine like the high nobility, you will find it here.

27 artistically decorated Easter eggs made of porcelain can now be auctioned at Neumeister - the starting price for this lot with the number #1022 is 100 euros.

Some lots start at 50 euros.

The starting price for silver is naturally in the four to six-digit range.

And if you are still looking for a noble decoration for April: A bowl with 27 artistically painted Easter eggs made of porcelain is also available.

From 100 euros.

Sweetens Lent.

The preview is possible in the Munich art auction house Neumeister, Barer Straße 37, from March 24th to 28th, 2022, Mon.-Fri.

10am-5pm, Sat and Sun 10am-3pm.

The auction starts on March 30, 2022 at 2 p.m.
