“Keep the winter tires on”: Weather still good at the weekend – then it’s downhill

March can no longer maintain the spring high: people in Germany will have to prepare for worse weather from the middle of the week at the latest. It can go even faster in the north.

The Super Sun March runs out of breath in the last few meters.

The weekend will be radiantly beautiful again with temperatures up to 22 degrees.

But then it could get cold.

So that there are no nasty surprises, the German Weather Service (DWD) advises: "Leave the winter tires on for now."

“What we are currently experiencing is March that is exceptional in many respects,” said Adrian Leyser from the weather forecast center in Offenbach.

"Both in terms of sunshine yield and drought, this year's March is absolutely exceptional."

At the weekend, spring high »Peter« is retiring to Great Britain.

From there, it continues to provide bright sunshine and unusual warmth, especially in the southern half of Germany.

In the north, on the other hand, summer clothing has to stay in the closet for the time being: Weak foothills of the low »Helmka« over north-eastern Europe are grazing Germany and bringing in slightly cooler and cloudier air.

"After a transition day on Monday, which brought sunny and warm spring weather to the south again, the spring high 'Peter' finally gave up in the middle of the week and made room for Atlantic lows," said Leyser.

This heralds a rather unstable period of weather for a long time.

However, on Friday it was still unclear where and how much rain there would be.

With the influence of low pressure and dwindling solar yield, temperatures are also falling.
