Netflix is known for mercilessly cutting series from the program.
Now it has caught a new horror series.
We reveal what is known so far.
The streaming service Netflix* likes to make a quick process if one of the contents does not deliver as desired.
Most recently, the live adaptation "Cowboy Bebop" was hit.
The unexpected end for the series surprised not only the fans, but also the cast.
Netflix pays a lot of attention to the cost-benefit calculation.
"Cowboy Bebop" simply underperformed for the streaming giant.
But the complete opposite is also possible with Netflix.
Hyped series are processed into spin-offs or get sequels after sequels.
Both scenarios are quite normal at Netflix.
Nevertheless, the fans are always surprised which series are suddenly discontinued.
Now it has hit a brand new horror series.
Netflix horror series will not continue
This is "Archive 81".
The horror series started on January 14, 2022 and even landed in the Netflix Top 10. The cliffhanger was also considered an indication of a second season.
So fans and critics were sure: There must be a sequel.
But now Netflix has put a spanner in the works.
As the US magazine
Deadline
reports,
"Archive 81" will not get a second season
.
This is what Archive 81 is about
Archive 81 follows the story of archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie) as he restores a collection of damaged
videocassettes from 1994
.
The recordings of the documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi) in particular fascinate him and at the same time become a danger to Turner.
Through mysterious ways, Melody and Dan are able to communicate with each other.
As the season progresses, he tries to find out what happened to her and how to save her from her fate.
In addition, a
dangerous sect
has come on to him.
Netflix: Reasons for the canceled series unclear
The reason why Netflix is dropping the new horror series is not known.
The decision came as a surprise to outsiders.
After all, "Archive 81" was able to bring in
at least 100 million streaming
hours.
Deadline
suspects that the
cost-benefit calculation
for Netflix will not work out in the end.
Finally, those responsible have to compare the budget with the streamed hours.
