Short process: McFit increases contributions by around 25 percent - customers rage about the gym

Members are raging against the studios on Facebook – the McFit chain is increasing the price of their subscriptions by around 25 percent.
The reason is the corona pandemic.
Key field - With well over a hundred studios in Germany alone, McFit is a giant in the local fitness business, thousands of members train throughout Europe with the studio operator from Würzburg.
The "discounter in the fitness area" attracts with moderate prices of around 20 euros per member and month.
But now there is a hefty premium increase for subscription holders from April 2022.

"In order to continue to enable you to play your favorite sport at McFIT, we have to adjust the prices for our contract models," says McFit on the studio giant's homepage.
The corona pandemic and its consequences have also left their mark on the fitness studio chain, and various costs have increased for the company.
Therefore, the planned allocation to the customers is now taking place.
And it looks like this:
Tariffs with a monthly contribution of up to 19.90 euros (basic), both flex and fixed-term contracts, will be adjusted to 24.90 euros.
Members may visit Gold's Gym Category 1 studios, as well as approximately 300 RSG Group studios in Europe - including John Reed's Category 1 fitness clubs.
With the Friends Option, a training partner can be brought to the studio free of charge every weekend.
Added values that members have earned in the Proud Club remain.
The price increase of almost 25 percent applies from April to new and existing customers - and they are really angry.

The fact that McFit quietly hid the announcement in the FAQs under the "Payment" tab doesn't seem entirely coincidental: fans of the fitness chain are extremely angry at what they consider to be disloyal studios.
"Continued to collect posts during lockdown, did nothing to outdated devices and now up the post... big screen!" wrote a user on McFit's Facebook page.
"We can understand your displeasure," McFit replied to the angry user on Facebook, "Unfortunately, not all members have supported us as actively as you have." In fact, many subscribers would have paused their memberships as part of the pandemic and also as the studios were able to open their doors again, the applicable rules meant that some customers could not be granted access.
But while some - like the protagonist in this video - went to the gym to lose extra pounds, many members of the chain, which was founded in 1997, have been loyal customers on the cross trainer or weight bench for years.
A large part of the contracts with the studio operator have been bringing secure money for what feels like an eternity - the legal changes to the right of termination, which came into force on March 1st, 2022, should therefore not taste good to the fitness chain.
Because while previously contracts were not so easy to sell, it now applies that - no matter which provider - the studio membership may not exceed a notice period of one month.
Whether or not some of the disappointed members will turn their backs on the fitness giant with these prospects remains to be seen.
