(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 25 - There are 622 assets confiscated from mafia available to give hospitality to Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in Italy.
The Interior Ministry makes it known.
There are 234 between housing and accommodation structures that the National Agency for the Benefits of Organized Crime will assign on free and temporary loan to the prefecture of the place where they are located for the exclusive purpose of welcoming refugees.
In addition, there are other 388 confiscated properties already transferred to local authorities and not yet used, identified by the prefectures and by the municipalities themselves, potentially usable for reception purposes, which the Agency will make available.
"The commitment of the Ministry of the Interior to give concrete answers to the most fragile people, such as women and children, is maximum - said the Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese. The use of confiscated assets - he added - also assumes a strong symbolic value as Assets stolen from the criminal circuit will be destined for those fleeing the theater of war, enhancing the social aims of their reuse ".
