A dish presented by Chef Segev Moshe to Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu (Photo: Segev Moshe)
During Benjamin Netanyahu's tenure as Prime Minister, the official chef of the Prime Minister's Residence at diplomatic dinners was Chef Segev Moshe.
Everyone remembers the unfortunate shoe incident with the Japanese prime minister.
But beyond the lack of tact in that case, quite a bit of criticism was heard then, about the lack of connection of the menus and food that Moshe chooses to serve, to diplomatic guests, about the lack of affinity and respect for local cuisine.
The horn of Israeli cuisine only rises in the world, they argued then, and precisely on such occasions, Chef Moshe, instead of boasting about our local cuisine, raw ingredients from here, Israeli and Arab dishes, chose to go for European cuisines, and raw ingredients that are detached from local life.
Well, it seems that the government of change is also changing the culinary line.
Tonight, Sde Boker will host the Negev Summit - the historic summit of foreign ministers, which is expected to be accompanied by Minister Yair Lapid, and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, also four foreign ministers from the Arab world - Abdullah Ben Zayed al-Nahian of the United Arab Emirates Sameh hired from Egypt and Nasser Burita from Morocco.

Flakes at a formal meal?
Oh, yes (Photo: Nimrod Saunders)
Accordingly, the menu to be served to the ministers, at the Kedma Hotel in Sde Boker, is a menu on the purity of local, Mediterranean cuisine, with raw materials from the Arava.
The meal will open with dishes from the oven - breads, Jerusalem pretzels, olive oil, fresh tomatoes, a dip from the equator, tahini and fresh tomatoes;
Next, a fresh cauliflower tabbouleh will be served, with pine nuts, fresh herbs and Maggie tomato gazpacho from the prairie;
Also on the menu is a sea fish kebab on a branch of an olive in a vine leaf shell and pepper cream;
Jerusalem artichoke soup with root gnocchi, and in between, a granita of desert herbs from the garden will be served.
But of all the dishes, we caught our eye with the dish of long-cooked lamb - lamb chops from the Golan Heights, cauliflower cream, almond fricassee and
Ben Gurion rice
.
Ben Gurion rice, this is of course the nickname for flakes, which were invented in Israel during the austerity period, when there was a shortage of rice.

Food is one of the greatest delicacies in existence, but it is not certain that Sarah Netanyahu would have gone over such a dish on the menu in silence.
The meal will also end with a variety of Mediterranean ingredients - strawberry consomme, late winter pomelo, almond cigar and touches of malabi ice cream.
The cliché always says, that at the end of the meal, is the best way to bring hearts together and make peace, it's just the time to check it out.
