In 2020 in the regional capitals the average annual temperature marks +1.2 degrees on the 1971-2000 value, resulting in 15.8 degrees.
This was stated by Istat in a report on climate change with 2020 as the reference year indicating that "in all cities the average temperature anomalies are positive and due to both minimum and maximum temperature rises: the highest are detected at Perugia (+2.1), Rome (+2), Milan (+1.9), Bologna (+1.8) and Turin (+1.7). The highest values in the decade 2011-2020. In particular since 2014, the average temperature has reached +16 degrees, "a sign of an ongoing warming in urban systems"
