(ANSA) - BARI, 29 MAR - The gup of the Court of Lecce Giulia Proto sentenced the former investigating judge of the Bari Court Giuseppe De Benedictis and the former criminal lawyer of Bari Giancarlo Chiariello to the penalty of 9 years and 9 months of imprisonment for four alleged episodes corruption in judicial acts, related atangents in exchange for release from prison.
The penalties imposed with an abbreviated rite were higher than the requests of the Public Prosecutor (8 years and 9 months of imprisonment for De Benedictis, 8 years and 5 months for Chiariello).
Both were acquitted "because the deed does not exist" from a further charge of corruption and disclosure of office secrecy.
