(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APRIL 02 - In Serbia, after two days of electoral silence, tomorrow will vote for the early parliamentary elections, for the presidential elections and the administrative elections in 14 municipalities, including Belgrade.

Opposition forces, which had instead boycotted the latest legislations of 2020, participate in the vote in protest against the "authoritarianism" of President Aleksandar Vucic and his "tight control over the media".

What led them to participate was the general improvement in the democratic sense of the law and of the entire electoral process achieved thanks to a dialogue between the government and the opposition held in recent months with the mediation of the European Parliament.

Big favorites for tomorrow's three consultations are outgoing President Vucic and his Serbian Progress Party (SNS, Conservative).

The polls give him the winner in the presidential elections in the first round, while the SNS should have no difficulty in establishing itself by a large margin both in the legislative and administrative sectors.

Vucic insisted in the electoral campaign on the results achieved in the last 10 years of his management, proposing himself as a guarantor of peace and stability for Serbia and the region, especially in these times of new tensions over Ukraine.

There are 8 presidential candidates, 3 of whom are women.

The only one able to get close to Vucic is Zdravko Ponos, former chief of the Serbian army, candidate of 'United for the victory of Serbia', the largest opposition cartel.

19 lists of parties and movements are in the running for the 250 seats in the unicameral parliament, elected by the proportional system.

The SNS is credited with percentages higher than 50% followed at a huge distance by the opposition United for the victory of Serbia, given at 13% -14%.

Third in terms of consensus results from the polls the Serbian Socialist Party (SPS) of the head of parliament and former foreign minister Ivica Dacic, credited with about 10%.

There are 12 candidates running for the position of mayor in Belgrade, and the first favorite is Aleksandar Sapic, former water polo champion, of the SNS of Vucic.

Out of a population of over 7 million, those with rights are approximately 6.5 million, who will be able to vote in 8,255 seats from 7 to 20. (ANSA).
