(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, APRIL 03 - Serbian President AleksandarVucic has claimed a large victory in the first round of today's presidential elections, together with the great success of his Serbian Progress Party (SNS, conservative) in the early parliamentarians held simultaneously with the presidential and administrative elections in Belgrade and in other 13 municipalities.
Speaking late in the evening at his party headquarters, flanked by members of the government and party leaders, Vucic said that, based on data compiled by his party staff, he scored between 59.9% and 61% in the presidential elections. to 2,250 thousand votes.
His main opponent Zdravko Ponos, a candidate of the united opposition, - he added - got 17.7%, Milos Jovanovic of the Nada movement (Hope for Serbia) got 5.9%.
According to Vucic, the parliamentarians obtained 44%, the united opposition went 13.6%, the Socialist Party (SPS) led by Ivica Dacicl 11.4%.
His speech was greeted by continuous applause from his supporters, who have long cheered him.
"I thank everyone," said Vucic, who stressed that the election day passed in an orderly and calm manner, with the exception of a few isolated attempts to create tension.
