Nicknamed “Mriya” (Dream in French), the Antovov An-225 was the pride of Ukraine.
It was built in 1988, during the Soviet era, to transport the Buran rocket.
Only one copy existed.
The plane was stored in the airport of Hostomel, near kyiv.
Ukraine had learned of its destruction from satellite images, but had not yet been able to visit the site due to the intensity of the fighting.
