It was believed that they were shunning the presidential election.

One week before the first round, around fifty artists have finally called to vote for the candidate of France Insoumise (LFI), Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

For comedian Blanche Gardin, actresses Anny Duperey, Corinne Masiero and Romane Bohringer, actor Bruno Solo, actor and musician Yvan Le Bolloc'h, singer Princess Erika, director Robert Guédiguian and novelists and Prix Goncourt Pierre Lemaitre and Éric Vuillard, France Insoumise must be chosen in the first round on April 10 in order to avoid a new Macron-Le Pen duel the following Sunday.

"Two weeks less of far right on TV, it's less racism"

While Jean-Luc Mélenchon, according to all the polls, comes in third place behind Marine Le Pen and the outgoing president, the signatories regret, in this forum, that only "the right and the extreme right occupy the media space, leaving the left, climate issues or equality issues far (very far) behind”.

“Two weeks less of far right on TV and in our newspapers means less racism, homophobia, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.

The impact is direct on the lives of all those who, among us and in France, suffer them,” they add.

Pierre Lemaitre, who has just published "Le Grand monde" and won the Prix Goncourt in 2013 for "Au revoir là-haut", has supported Jean-Luc Mélenchon for ten years.

At the end of March, he had already published a text with Éric Vuillard, also Goncourt, in 2017 for "The Order of the Day", and the filmmaker Robert Guédiguian ("Marius and Jeannette", "the Villa") in which they declared themselves “supporters of a resolutely free and egalitarian society, of a policy guided by the interests of all” (…) and called “strongly” to vote LFI.

“We have to block the far right so as not to end up in a Macron-Le Pen duel as in 2017, insists Pierre Lemaitre.

It is an arithmetic calculation.

Me, I will vote Mélenchon in the second round but I can understand that not everyone likes him.

We can even hate it, but we hate the extreme right even more.

Ordinarily, in the first round, we choose, in the second, we eliminate.

You can also do the opposite: eliminate in the first round.

And choose the second!

“I support the left… and its ideals.

No need to say more, ”wrote comedian, actor and director Bruno Solo.
