(ANSA) - KIGALI, APRIL 04 - The Rwanda Court of Appeal today confirmed the sentence to 25 years in prison for Paul Rusesabagina, whose deeds during the 1994 genocide were made known internationally by the Hollywood film 'Hotel Ruanda'.
The 67-year-old is accused of terrorism and the judiciary has rejected the prosecution's request to turn the sentence received at first instance into life imprisonment.

The 'Schindlerafricano', who rescued over 1,200 people during the 1994 Rwandan genocide between Tutsi and Hutu, was convicted of supporting armed rebel groups accused of fatal attacks in Rwanda in 2018 and 2019.
Rusesabagina boycotted almost all stages of the trial. and he was not present in the courtroom even today for the sentence of the Court of Appeal.
