(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 05 - Sky announces M. The son of the century, a new drama series Sky Original, adaptation of the novel of the same name by Antonio Scurati (Bompiani), winner of the Strega Prize and international bestseller, which tells the rise of fascism in Italy and the rise to power of the leader Benito Mussolini.

The 8-episode Sky Studios series is produced by Lorenzo Mieli with The Apartment Pictures, a company of the Fremantle group, in collaboration with Pathé, and will retrace the history from the foundation of the Fasci Italiani in 1919 to the infamous speech by Mussolini in Parliament after the murder of the socialist deputy Giacomo Matteotti in 1925. It will also offer a glimpse of Mussolini's private life and his personal relationships, including those with his wife Rachele, his lover Margherita Sarfatti and with other iconic figures of


    Like the novel, the series will tell the story of a country that surrendered to the dictatorship and the story of a man who was able to be reborn many times from his ashes.

Written by Stefano Bises, flanked by the screenplay by DavideSerino, the series will tell the events with historical accuracy, with every event, character, dialogue and discourse historically documented or witnessed by multiple sources.
