There has been a lot going on in the Easter post office in Ostereistedt over the past few weeks.
In the weeks leading up to Easter, Easter bunny Hanni Hase had to receive and answer around 80,000 children's letters here, according to Deutsche Post.
But she also promised: Hanni Hase would be happy about all Easter greetings and Easter wishes and would answer "guaranteed".
Many children also expressed their wishes for Easter in the letters.
However, chocolate bunnies or toys were less noticeable: many children wrote in their letters wishing for peace in Ukraine and an end to the corona pandemic.
A thousand letters from abroad
"The letters reflect the children's emotional world, which touches us very much," said Doris Kröger, manager of the Osterpost branch.
But the young letter writers also wanted little things like chocolate.
However, many also reported that they had already donated toys, teddies and clothing for refugees from Ukraine.
As every year, a large team of volunteers answered the letters to give the children a colorful letter at Easter.
The post office gave the Easter bunny this address: Hanni Hase, Am Waldrand 12, 27494 Ostereistedt.
The campaign is intended to encourage children to write letters and has been taking place for 40 years.
A record 100,000 letters were received last year.
There are always a lot of children's letters from abroad, this year there were about 1000 letters from 40 countries.
A letter from Australia covered the longest distance.
