(ANSA) - MILAN, APRIL 14 - Vertical take-off electric flights to bring Malpensa international airport closer to the border cities of Lombardy and the Cantoni Ticino (Switzerland).
This is one of the topics discussed during the summit between the top management of Sea, the company that manages the airport, and the mayors of Varese and the Canton of Ticino.
"An important development of connectivity in the near future - it was underlined during the meeting - will be represented by the innovation of Urban Air Mobility" with "the commitment of the institutions and of Sea to activate a network of 'vertiports' for the use of electric aircraft at take-off vertical".
The goal is to make an "important step forward in the sector of sustainable and fast mobility between cities and
"Malpensa - it was said - could be reached from Locarno and Cellinzona (Switzerland) in just over 30 minutes and from Varese in just 10-15 minutes".
At the working table were present the president of SeaMichaela Castelli, the managing director Armando Brunini, the mayor of Varese Davide Galimberti with the Swiss colleagues of Locarno Alain Scherrer, of Mendrisio Samuele Cavadini, of Chiasso Bruno Arrigoni and the deputy mayor of Bellinzona SimoneGianini.
Also present were the prefect of Varese SalvatorePasquariello, the head of the department of territorial development of Lugano Filippo Lombardi and the president of the Varese municipal council, Alberto Coen Porisini (ANSA).
